Conditional Use Permit No. 25-04 (Rex Solaire Solar and Storage Project)

Description

The Kings County Community Development Agency has received an application for a land development permit that proposes to construct, operate, and eventually decommission a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar power generation and energy storage facility on approximately 20,600 acres. The Project consists of tracking solar PV panel arrays with a nominal output of up to 2,800 megawatts (MW) alternating current (AC) at the point of interconnection and battery energy storage with a capacity of up to 11.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh). Other project components include project substations, an underground collection system, and a gen-tie line that would connect the project substations to up to two switchyards located adjacent to the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) transmission corridor. The project would also include telecommunication facilities and an operations and maintenance facility.
