Townsend Field Improvement Project

Description

The Townsend Field Improvement Project involves replacing the existing turf field with enlarged natural grass field, removal of existing concrete bleachers and replacing with new, metal bleachers. The existing track would be replaced with a new synthetic, all weather track. Replacing existing stadium lighting with new, energy efficient stadium lighting at Townsend Field and Elmer Johnson Field and installation of new lighting at the Buchser Middle School tennis courts. The Project also involves replacement of the press box, PA system, and bathroom building. Existing concession buildings would be demolished. Construction is expected to take place over the course of one year beginning in December 2026. SCUSD’s standard design and construction measures and mitigation measures would be implemented. Construction hours would generally be from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Work on Sundays and on holidays would only occur to maintain project schedule.
