Title: Alder Creek, 89 Wildland Urban Interface Project
Description: CAL FIRE would provide funding to the Truckee Fire Protection District (TFPD) to conduct fuels reduction treatments related to the Nevada and Placer County Cooperative Landscape Resilience Project. Manual and mechanical treatments will include removal of trees up to 12-inches diameter at breast height (dbh), followed by mastication of removed vegetation. The project is intended to: 1. achieve increased resiliency to the threat of wildfire to the town of Truckee and surrounding United States Forest Service (USFS) lands, 2. Enhance Highway 89’s value for ingress/egress for fire suppression and emergency response, and 3. provide ecosystem restoration by improving forest health and resilience to climate change.
