Reasons for Exemption
Public Resources Code 4799.05 (d)(1) Division 13 (Commencing with Section 21000, which provides that CEQA does not apply to projects that include prescribed fire, thinning, or fuel reduction actions undertaken on federal lands to reduce the risk of high-severity wildlife that have been reviewed under the federal National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 if the primary role of the state agency is providing funding for the project. The planning projects are exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to the State CEQA Guidelines, Section 15262, Feasibility and Planning Studies, as it involves only feasibility and planning studies for possible future actions.
