Project Info
- Title
- Buttonbush Solar and Storage Project by 29SC 8me, LLC.
- Description
- The proposed Buttonbush Solar and Storage Project as proposed by 29SC 8me, LLC. would allow for the construction and operation of a photovoltaic (PV) solar facility with the associated infrastructure on 7 proposed project sites that would collectively generate up to 2,000 megawatts (MW) or 2 gigawatts (GW) of renewable electrical energy including a battery energy storage system (BESS) with the capacity of storing approximately 16,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) or 16 gigawatt-hours (GWh) on approximately 11,983 acres across 128 privately owned parcels in an unincorporated area of northwestern Kern County. Implementation of the proposed project includes requests for multiple General and Specific Plan Amendments (GPAs/SPAs), Conditional Use Permits (CUPs), the cancellation of Williamson Act Land Use and Farmland Security Zone Contracts (WALUC/FSZC), and Non-Summary Street Vacations (NSV) from the Kern County Planning & Natural Resources Department. The several separate sites of the proposed Project are entirely located within unincorporated Kern County, directly north of the community of Buttonwillow, approximately four miles west of the City of Bakersfield, two miles west of the City of Shafter, and seven miles southwest of the City of Wasco. The proposed Project straddles and crosses Interstate 5 (I-5) and is east of Buttonwillow Raceway Park, north of State Route (SR) 58, and south of Kimberlina Road.
