The improvements are intended to modernize school infrastructure to increase safety, more effectively utilize district property and improve the educational services provided.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 14 §15314: Minor Additions to Schools
Reasons for Exemption
The proposed improvements are consistent with Exemption 15314 (Class 14 - Minor Additions to Schools), as all improvements will be made within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, including portable classrooms. As mentioned, the improvements would increase student capacity by 20 students. Based on the 2024-2025 School Accountability Report Card (SARC) for Tevis Junior High School, the Project would increase the student capacity of the school by approximately 2.47 percent. The Project is also proposing the construction of four new classrooms, which is under the threshold of ten new classrooms. The Project will construct minor upgrades and additions to the existing school, and result in a minimal increase of student capacity and faculty. The Project will improve educational experience, provide additional amenities and will improve accessibility and increase vehicle and pedestrian safety. As discussed, the improvements at these existing schools would not result in a significant environmental impact and are consistent with the provisions of Class 14 Categorical Exemptions as per Section 21084 of the Public Resources Code.
