Document Description
The purpose of this project is to repair and/or upgrade items at the restroom facilities at Brannan Island State Recreation Area to ensure ADA compliance and full functionality for public use. Updating these facilities will also create an overall more enjoyable and inclusive experience for visitors. The work will occur in eight (8) of the park’s restrooms at the following locations: Windy Cove; Willow North; Willow South; Cottonwood North; Cottonwood South; Sacramento Group Camp; Swim Beach Day Use; and Boat Launch. Additionally, a free-standing water fountain at the Bait Shop will be replaced as well. Items to be upgraded for health and safety compliance include: doors, drinking fountains, faucets, mirrors, restroom waste bins, signs, sinks, showers, toilets, water bottle fillers, and water heater tanks and all necessary accessory parts. Work will also include removal and disposal of all non-compliant or broken fixtures, patching walls where necessary with either matching tile or stainless-steel blanks and replacing or repairing any cracked or broken tile as necessary.

The project consists of the operation, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures, and is included as “Utility repairs or minor upgrades”, “Modifications of existing facilities for disabled access” and “Construction or installation of park facilities, such as signs” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR § 15300.4; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.?
