Document Description
Caltrans proposes repairing, replacing, and reactivating ramp metering equipment on US-101 in Sonoma County from post mile (PM) 2.69 to 4.88. The project will ease mainline traffic and congestion along this stretch of US-101. With the upcoming completion of the Marin-Sonoma Narrows Phase 7B HOV lanes project, and the completion of the HOV Traffic Analysis Study sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM), Sonoma Count Transit Authority (SCTA), and Caltrans, the existing ramp metering equipment will need to be upgraded, repaired, and restored to ensure an efficient freeway system that operates at or near capacity. The current ramp metering equipment is missing or outdated. The project will include activities such as repair and installation of loop detectors, flashing beacons, advanced warning signals, signs, and ramp metering foundations, as well as striping, at five locations. Traffic control will be required during construction.
