Reasons for Exemption
Prior to any action being taken for this request, the Planning Department staff has determined that the project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The project qualifies as a Class 1 exemption under State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 which covers the operation, permitting, leasing, or minor alteration of existing structures. The project involves the permitting of a building construction material sales yard on a property previously in use as outdoor storage. No new construction is proposed to the project site except for that which will be required to meet fire safety standards. The Planning Director has reviewed the determination of exemption, and based on their own independent judgment, concurs with staff.
