Document Description
The Project would construct a regional stormwater runoff capture facility within Lynwood Park to provide multiple benefits including improved flood control, water quality, and water supply (through infiltration to groundwater). The stormwater facility would involve two stormwater diversion structures which would divert water from LACFCD East Compton Creek storm drains located along Bullis Road and Birch Street into an underground capture, treatment, and infiltration facility situated beneath the existing soccer fields. The Project would also include in-kind replacement of existing facilities within the site that require demolition to implement the regional stormwater capture facility with new recreation facilities and features; a butterfly garden and ephemeral stream; native landscaping; and a concrete walking path as a new passive recreation opportunity in the park. The proposed Project would be constructed in one phase lasting approximately 18 months, beginning in Spring 2027
