Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-SON-50631-R3), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant, Vulcan Materials Company. The project is limited to dredging of an existing berth along the Petaluma River for boats and barges. The approximately 0.5-acre berth area will be dredged to a depth of approximately -8 feet mean lower low water (MLLW) plus 1 foot of overdepth to match the maintained depth of the federal channel of the Petaluma River. It is expected that approximately 2,519 cubic yards (cy) of sediment will be removed per dredging episode. The project will entail up to two dredging episodes with the same area and volume expected for each episode. Dredging activities will be conducted using a mechanical clamshell dredge with tugboats and scows to transport sediment to the disposal site. Dredged material will be transported to San Francisco Deep Ocean Disposal site (SF-DODS) or a permitted beneficial reuse site such as Montezuma Wetlands Restoration Project (MWRP) site or Cullinan Ranch Restoration Project (CRRP) site. Sediment will be tested and disposed of in accordance with Dredge Material Management Office (DMMO) standards. This project will temporarily impact approximately 0.5 acres of open water habitat. The project will not result in impacts to trees or other vegetation.
