Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SHA-50092-R1 pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project Applicant, Knauf Insulation, represented by Harish Zade.
The project is limited to the replacement of an existing culvert which conveys a section of Newtown Creek under the Knauf facility railroad spur. The existing culvert has become compromised and track ballast material has started to erode into the crossing. The existing 96-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe and temporary arch culvert insert, including grout material, will be removed and replaced with an 8-foot by 8-foot pre-cast concrete box culvert. The new culvert will be approximately 117-feet long. Concrete will be poured into forms to construct wingwalls on both the upstream and downstream sides of the culvert. A 20-foot by 20-foot pad of rock, 2.5-feet deep, will be placed in the streambed at the inlet and outlet of the box culvert. Work will require vegetation removal to construct a temporary access road, as well as temporary dewatering infrastructure. Following culvert replacement, dewatering infrastructure will be removed, the temporary access road will be restored to pre-construction contour, and areas where vegetation was disturbed or removed will be re-vegetated.
