The project includes the permanent abandonment and stabilization of approximately 1,000 LF of decommissioned dual underground cooling tunnels, located approximately 20 ft below ground at BAE Systems in San Diego, CA. The project involves partial demolition and abandonment of the concrete intake and discharge structures and bulkhead walls, as well as installation of reinforced concrete bulkheads and placement of rock revetment to match existing. The tunnels would be backfilled in place.
