- Title
- Huasna Townsite Road Bridge Replacement Project, 300678/ ED25-0275
- Description
- The County of San Luis Obispo (County) Public Works Department, with funding from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and oversight by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), proposes to replace the existing, temporary steel truss bridge on Huasna Townsite Road over Huasna River (RD-1071-BR1). The Huasna Townsite Road Bridge Replacement Project (project) is located on Huasna Townsite Road approximately eleven miles east of the City of Arroyo Grande. The purpose of this project is to provide a permanent concrete bridge to replace the temporary steel truss bridge installed after winter storms in January 2023 destroyed the original timber bridge. The project footprint consists of an approximate 2.23-acre area and contains the right-of-way for the proposed project, all areas of ground disturbance, and potential staging areas. Staging is proposed on Huasna Townsite Road, within County right-of-way, and within adjacent fields that have been previously disturbed by grading and would not require improvements (e.g., grading, leveling). The existing temporary steel truss bridge, approximately 180 feet long and 13.58 feet wide, will remain in place during construction to facilitate continued public access throughout the project. The proposed replacement structure will be an approximately 202-foot-long, 23.5-foot-wide, two-span, cast-in-place (CIP)/post-tensioned (PT) concrete box girder bridge located approximately 35 feet north of the existing roadway centerline, parallel to the temporary bridge. The proposed replacement structure would be designed to current design standards.
