Troy High School Seismic and Field Improvements Project

Description

The District proposes to seismically retrofit and modernize classroom buildings 300 and 500, portions of classroom buildings 200 and 400, and the administration building to improve earthquake resistance and update facilities. Seismic retrofitting would include anchoring buildings to their foundations; reinforcing walls, columns, and beams; tying existing roof slabs into columns; adding shear walls or steel bracing; stabilizing weak stories; and securing non-structural elements to reduce falling hazards. The project would demolish and replace interior and exterior finishes—such as flooring, roofing, walls, doors, windows, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, skylights, and other non-structural components—and would remove and cap utilities as needed. Modernization would provide upgraded finishes throughout, and the administration building would receive a reconfigured interior to accommodate a student union area, restrooms, storage, staff workroom, student store, hallways, and custodial, electrical, mechanical, and administrative spaces, along with new skylights in the administration building and classroom buildings 300, 400, and 500. During construction, students from classroom buildings 200 through 500 would be temporarily relocated to 34 ADA-accessible interim portable classrooms and two portable restroom buildings installed in four clusters on the Troy High School campus; these would be removed and affected areas restored once work is complete. The District also proposes to install field lighting and a public address system at the baseball, softball, and track and field facilities, consisting of 19 light fixtures, to allow evening practices between 3:30 PM and 8:00 PM without increasing events, participants, or spectators. Seismic retrofitting and modernization would occur in three phases from April 2026 to August 2028, while track and field improvements would occur in one phase from April 2026 to September 2026.
