Title
Jewett Creek Remediation Project
Description
The project is intended to remediate damages incurred to fish and wildlife resources resulting from Fish and Game Code violations documented within Jewett Creek, a tributary to the Sacramento River. The Project includes the following activities: 1) North/South Branch Hydrology Restoration- An approximately 1,400-linear foot section of earthen levee on the south bank of the north branch of Jewett Creek beginning at and west of approximately 39.934811°, -122.264529° will be removed to allow water to overflow into the south branch during high flow events. The area will be graded smooth, stabilized with stormwater best management practices, and spoils hauled to a suitable upland location where they cannot return to the stream. 2) North Branch Bank Remediation- An approximately 1,600 linear foot section of unauthorized earthen levee will be relocated approximately fifteen feet further from the stream edge from its current location. All cuts will be excavated at 2:1 slopes, all fills placed at 2:1 slopes, and all clean fill material moisture conditioned and compacted to 90% relative compaction. 3) Upstream Tire Removal- At approximately 39.933477°, -122.269724° an estimated 10 to 15 vehicle tires that washed down from an upstream parcel will be removed from the bed and bank of the north branch of Jewett Creek. Minimal bank excavation is expected due to most tires being in loose soil within the channel bed.
