Public Works Corporate Yard

Description

The Project consists of a General Plan Amendment and Zone Change to accommodate the construction and operation of a new Public Works Corporate Yard at 2200 East Philadelphia Street. This new corporate yard would replace the existing facility located at South Bon View Avenue. The Project consists of 10 buildings and 13 non-building structures, and would consolidate City administrative services, public works, information technology, and Ontario Municipal Utilities Company operations on a single municipal campus. The Project would include administrative offices, a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition facility with the ability to serve as an alternate emergency operations center, warehouse and storage facilities (including storage for the City's Community Life and Culture division), fleet maintenance and industrial water operations facilities, hazardous waste handling facilities, vehicle wash facilities, a municipal waste transfer station, and a multi-level parking structure. Site improvements would also include vehicle and equipment storage, parking, fueling stations, and electrical infrastructure. Circulation improvements, utility infrastructure, landscaping, and backup power generation would also be built. The Project would require a General Plan Amendment and Zone Change to change the existing land use designation and zoning district from Open Space – Parkland (OS-R) and Open Space – Recreation (OS-R) to Public Facility and Civic (CIV), respectively. Additionally, to achieve the goals and objectives of the City of Ontario Community Climate Action Plan, greenhouse gas emissions reduction features would be incorporated into the Project, including alternative fueling, water recycling and conservation practices, waste diversion, solar energy generation, and active transportation features. On- and off-site improvements would include roadway, utility, drainage, bridge construction, telecommunications, and traffic signal improvements.
