- Title
- Scott Valley Groundwater Recharge Project
- Description
- The Scott Valley Groundwater Recharge Project (proposed project) is a pilot Flood Managed Aquifer Recharge (Flood-MAR) project to temporarily divert available surface water from the Scott River during high flow events for groundwater recharge. The proposed project could divert up to 5,400 acre-feet (af) per year, at a maximum diversion rate of 30 cubic feet per second (cfs) during the non-irrigation season (December 15 through March 31). Temporary diversions would occur at the Scott Valley Irrigation District’s (SVID’s) existing point of diversion (POD) located at Young’s Dam (river mile [RM] 46.7) into the SVID ditch and be applied to existing irrigated fields proposed for groundwater recharge (i.e., the existing place of use [POU]). The proposed project would not require construction of new infrastructure; the extensive system of existing ditches, pumps, and general water conveyance infrastructure throughout the SVID service area would be used with operations (timing of diversions) modified to support groundwater recharge when water is available.
