Title: Gonsalves Obermeier-Clowers Broadcast Burn
Description: The project is an approximately 17-acre broadcast burn north of the town of Rumsey, CA to be implemented by CALFIRE Lake Napa Unit, the Capay Valley Fire Protection District, Yocha Dehe Fire Department and Yolo County Resource Conservation District (RCP)/Yolo Prescribed Burn Association (PBA). Yolo County RCD is the main project coordinator and will ensure implementation is consistent with burn and smoke permits and environmental compliance. CALFIRE or the Capay Valley Fire Protection District will be the implementing entity to perform fuels management using low- intensity, broadcast prescribed fire. Fire line containment will be determined based on escape risk, which depends on weather and time factors. lffire risk is low, containment lines will be created around the burn unit using weed whackers, hand tools, and water pumps to create a barrier of minimal vegetation and a wet edge. Work will not occur when fire risk is high (hot weather and/or high winds).
