- Title
- Well V817 Aquifer Test
- Description
- The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is planning to undertake an aquifer test with an existing well, Well V817, located south of South Haiwee Reservoir in Rose Valley. The purpose of the planned aquifer test is to evaluate the site's hydrogeology, including aquifer characteristics, pumping capacity, the effect of pumping on groundwater level on nearby monitoring wells, and the location of potential any fault splays in the area, to determine whether Rose Valley can serve as a location for groundwater storage and recovery. The groundwater level in the nearby monitoring well ranges between 80 and 230 feet below the ground surface, far below the root zone of vegetation. The aquifer test of V817 is expected to take up to one week and is expected to withdraw less than 30 acre-feet of groundwater. This test is estimated to cause a one inch drop in groundwater levels. This aquifer test will not result in any ground disturbance and equipment will utilize existing access roads.
