Title
South Fork Sacramento Fire Resilience (SNC 1654)
Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) would provide funding to the United States Forest Service, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, to implement project #1654 South Fork Sacramento Fire Resilience. The project will improve fire resilience of forested ecosystems, improve public safety by reducing the likelihood of severe wildfire within the wildland urban interface (WUI), improve wildlife habitat, and restore the natural role of fire to the ecosystem. It covers approximately 1,157 acres, and is part of a larger 21,400-acre project area that has been analyzed under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Project activities include hand, mechanical, and mastication treatments consistent with the December 2023 South Fork Sacramento Public Safety and Forest Restoration Project Decision Notice.
