Interstate 5/El Toro Road Interchange Project

Description

The project proposes to modify and improve the existing interchange between post miles (PMs) 17.8 and 19.7 within the cities of Lake Forest, Laguna Woods, and Laguna Hills in Orange County, California. The Project limits on Interstate 5 extend from approximately 0.2 mile south of the Los Alisos Boulevard overcrossing (PM 17.8) to approximately 0.2 mile south of the Lake Forest Drive overcrossing (PM 19.7), a distance of approximately 1.9 miles. Two Build Alternatives (Build Alternative 1: Southbound I-5 Hook Ramps, including design option 1a, Build Alternative 3: TSM and TDM) and the No-Build Alternative are being considered. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve traffic flow and traffic signal optimization, to improve traffic mobility at and through adjacent local street intersections, to reduce freeway ramp queuing, and apply technology to help manage traffic demand.
