Document Description
Tehama County Public Works proposes to realign the Thomes Cr low flow channel in an effort to protect the Simpson Rd Bridge abutment from scour and potential failure during the upcoming Super El Nino weather event. Approximately 20,000 cubic yards of gravel will be removed from the channel while the creek is dry using earth moving scrapers. A new low flow channel will be created within the middle of the creek bottom, reducing the hydraulic pressure on the northern bridge abutment. The gravel removal is being conducted pursuant to the County’s Nicol Pit gravel extraction permit.
