Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15301(c) - Class 1, Existing Facilities
Reasons for Exemption
This Project is categorically exempt pursuant to Section 15301(c) of the State CEQA Guidelines. Section 15301(c) exempts activities involving the operation, repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing public facilities, including existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities, that involve negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. This project qualifies for this exemption because it updates existing traffic signals, streets, and similar facilities to current state codes and standards and alterations to accommodate bicycle and pedestrian uses that do not create additional automobile lanes, and additional traffic safety devices that do not change the existing use of the facilities. In addition, there are no unusual circumstances or conditions related to the project site: therefore, the Project qualifies for this exemption.
