Document Description
Marin County Parks (MCP) is proposing to renovate the existing pickleball and tennis courts at McInnis Park, improve ADA parking and access routes, install a new portable restroom and enclosure, and add site furnishings to enhance playing conditions and overall visitor experience. The project area is located at the existing tennis/pickleball courts and parking area at McInnis Park, approximately 680 feet north of Gallinas Creek. The total area of disturbance area would be approximately 29,970 square feet, consisting of the following elements: • Renovate the existing pickleball courts, which measure 108-foot by 125-foot, area totaling 13,276 square feet. • Install and repaint the court surface. • Repaint and restripe existing tennis courts in a 13,005 square foot area. • Install new concrete ADA parking stalls in an area measuring 18 feet by 26 feet, area totaling 495 square feet. • Install new concrete walkways and paving upgrades in a 2,700 square foot area. The walkways would be 6 to 8 feet in width, 256 feet in length, and 16-inches deep including concrete, baserock, and compacted soil. Walkway and paving upgrades would be consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act Guidelines (ADA) to provide an accessible pathway to connect the courts to the existing accessible parking stalls. The proposed project would include new site furnishings including benches, tables, receptacles, and a drinking fountain for visitors to use. • Install 335 feet of interior court fencing consisting of a 4-foot-tall fence and gates to separate the pickleball courts and to replace a 92.5-foot section of a 10-foot-tall perimeter fence. • Install an ADA portable restroom on a 160 square foot concrete pad with a wood enclosure. Project implementation is anticipated to take 3 months between February and December 2027. Equipment may include but not limited to grading equipment, back hoes, front loaders, plate compactors, concrete trucks, asphalt equipment, cherry pickers, and small dump trucks. The existing courts will be closed to the public during project implementation. Three unhealthy/dead ash trees (Fraxinus ssp.) with an 8-inch diameter at breast height located adjacent to the existing courts would be removed. The proposed project would have no effect to wetlands and/or surface waters including creeks, streams, lakes, and San Pablo Bay. No special status habitats or species, or cultural or historical resources have been identified in the project area. For these reasons, no regulatory permit authorizations would be required. Best Management Practices that would be implemented include straw waddles for erosion control, and dust control. No nighttime work would be allowed.
