Document Description
Description of Nature, Purpose, and Beneficiaries of Project: The project is from post mile 94.0 to post mile 106.0 on Route 62 in San Bernardino County. No Federal Land Transfer needed. Scope of Work: Pavement rehab will be performed with a depth of 0.25’ PDR and 0.15’ overlay with RHMA-G. There will be concrete cutoff walls at Post Mile (PM) 95.7, PM 101.8 and cut off wall at PM 101.4. Shoulder backing will be performed on the entire project limits on both sides of the roadway as provided on the cross-sections. Purpose: The purpose of this project is to cost-effectively preserve and extend the service life of the existing pavement, improve its ride quality, and prevent washout. Need: Under heavy and continuous traffic over long periods, the existing pavement has shown signs of deteriorations within the project limits. The 2019 Automated Pavement Condition Survey (APCS) indicated that poor rutting conditions, minor distresses, and unacceptable ride quality, if left uncorrected, will trigger a more costly major roadway rehabilitation. Given the local geography and weather conditions, the roadway segment also has been undermined and washed out after past flood events. To avoid the reoccurrence of imminent roadway failure, preventative measures need to be installed.
