Document Description
Caltrans proposes a project to replace the vandalized historic Gianella Bridge plaque. The existing freestanding plaque is in Butte County at the intersection of State Route (SR) 32 and Gianella Road. It stands on the right-hand side of SR 32 when traveling eastbound at Post Mile (PM) 0.30, just before approaching the bridge.
This project is needed because the existing historic Gianella Bridge plaque was vandalized, and the bronze surface was removed. Replacing the plaque would restore an important interpretive resource, ensuring the travelers and local communities can continue to understand and appreciate the historical context of the old Gianella Bridge.
