Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement No. EPIMS-VEN-33011-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, as represented by Aaron Azevedo. The whole of the Arroyo Simi Four Bridges Scour Mitigation Project involves the installation of scour countermeasures at four railroad bridges that pass over Arroyo Simi Creek. Scour countermeasures for each bridge include the following, removal and in-kind replacement with rock slope protection and extension of riprap at the bridge abutments; extension of concrete casings around existing steel piles at each pier; installation of filter fabric at the bottom of the channel below riprap apron; backfill of native soil over riprap; and restoration of impacted areas upon completion of construction. The existing single-track configuration at each bridge location would remain upon implementation of the proposed scour countermeasures. Prior to construction, the proposed access road will be graded, vegetation within the project area will be removed, and any remnant concrete collars, piles, caps, footings, and existing rock slope protection will be removed. The project will utilize equipment such as excavators, loaders, haul trucks, water trucks, concrete pumper trucks, chainsaws, generators and pumps, and a backhoe with a hydraulic hammer. A water diversion will be needed to complete the proposed work.
