Document Description
To repair an approximately 3,200-square-foot waterside slope slip encompassing approximately 63 linear feet of bank along the Sacramento River, consistent with the Operation and Maintenance Manual, “West Levee of Sacramento River from Sacramento Weir to River Mile 51.2 and South Levee of Sacramento Bypass and East Levee of Yolo Bypass from Sacramento Bypass to South Boundary of Reclamation District No. 900.” The proposed work includes removal of approximately five cubic yards of sloughed material and reconstruction of the levee slope to its existing profile, elevation, and cross-section. Approximately 80 cubic yards of rock slope protection and filter gravel will be placed to stabilize the repaired slope, including a keyed rock toe at the bottom of the slope. The site will be cleared and grubbed as necessary, including removal of trees and vegetation within the construction limits. Construction will include an initial stabilization phase involving placement of rock to establish a working platform, followed by final stabilization of the bank. Willow bundles will be installed at the top of the working platform as part of the final stabilization.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Sections 15301 and 15302
Reasons for Exemption
The Board has determined that the project activities within the Board's authority are exempt from CEQA pursuant to the Class 1 (Existing Facilities) categorical exemption (California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15301(l). The project qualifies for this exemption because it involves removal of small existing structures and involves negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. In addition, the Board has determined that the project activities within the Board's authority are exempt from CEQA pursuant to the Class 2 (Replacement or Reconstruction) categorical exemption (California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15302). The project qualifies for this exemption because it involves the replacement or reconstruction of an existing structure or facility that will be located on the same site as the structure or facility replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity. The Board further finds that none of the exceptions to the categorical exemptions set forth in California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15300.2 apply.
