Document Description
The City of Petaluma will enter into a construction contract for accessibility and multimodal safety improvements at various intersections along Sonoma Mountain Parkway and at the intersection of East Madison and North McDowell Blvd. Project improvements include pedestrian crossing and guardrail upgrades, installation of median refuge islands, construction and upgrades of curb ramps, rapid flashing beacons, signage and striping modifications. The improvements are intended to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians, motorists, and bicyclists. Construction is anticipated to occur between October 2026 and January 2027, with an estimated duration of approximately 60 working days. Construction activities will require temporary lane closures to accommodate the work; however, no roadway widening beyond the existing right-of-way is proposed. The project is described in detail in the City's 100% Plan Set, dated February 2026, which is incorporated herein by reference and maintained in the project administrative record. Council took action on September 28, 2026 to approve the award of contract.
