Document Description
The County of Tulare is extending Uncodified Urgency Interim Ordinance No. 3669, which establishes a temporary moratorium on new data center development in the unincorporated areas of Tulare County. The extension will continue the moratorium for an additional ten (10) months and fifteen (15) days, through August 6, 2027. During the moratorium, the County will continue to evaluate data center development and develop comprehensive land use regulations addressing potential impacts and appropriate development standards, including zoning requirements, infrastructure needs, environmental considerations, public safety, water and energy considerations, noise, and land use compatibility. The purpose of the moratorium extension is to allow sufficient time for the County to complete this evaluation and develop appropriate permanent zoning and development regulations governing new data center development. The residents and communities of unincorporated Tulare County, as well as the County generally, will benefit from the additional time to evaluate and establish appropriate land use regulations for future data center development.
