Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1 - Section 15301, Class 11 – Section 15311
Reasons for Exemption
This Project has been reviewed in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The City's Environmental Administrator has determined that the Project is categorically exempt from further environmental review pursuant to Section 15301, Existing Facilities (Class 1), and Section 15311 Accessory Structures (Class 11) of the State CEQA Guidelines. The Class 1 exemption applies because the Project involves minor alterations to the existing private school aquatics facility, including replacement of the existing pool scoreboard in the same location and installation of related equipment on existing light poles. The Class 11 exemption applies because the Project involves improvements that are minor structures to the existing institutional use. No unusual circumstances exist that would preclude the use of this exemption, and none of the exceptions set forth in CEQA Guideline Section 15300.2 apply.
