Document Description
The Pomona Unified School District proposes to modernize Lexington Elementary School by replacing 23 portable buildings with a new 64,530-square-foot, two-story permanent building with classrooms, two lab-size classrooms, multipurpose room, physical education/fitness center, boys' and girls' locker rooms, offices, workspaces, and storage and custodial spaces. The northwest portion of the campus and other existing recreational spaces would be improved with new outdoor recreational facilities; three photovoltaic shade structures would be installed around a new field. The project would also improve on-and off-site traffic circulation, parking, and pedestrian facilities. Existing student loading occurring off-site on Lexington Avenue would be relocated on-site in a modernized parking lot in the northeast portion of the campus. Existing staff parking along Park Avenue would be expanded. More parking stalls and bus loading would be provided in the southeast portion of the campus. New wet and dry utilities would be installed to accommodate the new building.

The Project involves replacing existing portable buildings in the northwest portion of an existing school with a new building within the existing campus. There would be a net addition of 6 classrooms and an enrollment capacity increase of 194 seats or 15 percent of the existing capacity. Additionally, as the Project would not result in the addition of classrooms by 10 or an enrollment capacity by 25 percent, which are thresholds for Class 14, the Project also meets the conditions of Class 14.
Class 4. The project site has a slope less than 10 percent; does not contain waterways, wetlands, or scenic areas; and is not within an implementation are not considered scenic, and all areas disturbed would be restored with new pavement, structures, and/or landscaping to minimize erosion and allow continued school operations at the Project site. Therefore, the Project meets the conditions of Class 4. Exceptions: None of the exceptions listed under CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the Project.
