Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1; California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15301
Reasons for Exemption
This activity qualifies for a categorical exemption under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to 14 CCR § 15301 (Existing Facilities) because the work related to the construction and installation of chloramine boosting systems at Reservoirs 1, 4, and 5 involves minor improvements to existing public utility facilities involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and there are no unusual circumstances that would preclude the use of this exemption. The project consists of constructing new chemical buildings within existing reservoir sites and installing associated equipment, piping, electrical, and control systems to enhance disinfectant residual management. The improvements will occur within established facility boundaries and will not expand reservoir capacity, increase service areas, or result in a change or expansion of use.
