Document Description
This project is being undertaken in anticipation of an exceptionally strong El Nino event forecast for the 2026-2027 fall and winter seasons and the current, degraded, state of the SCBFCD's Lucerne Valley Channel. Without emergency repairs to the channel, any rain event, but especially a large rain event, may result in significant structural integrity degradation, ultimately posing a clear and imminent threat to public and private property, infrastructure, and life. Emergency activities may include, but not be limited to, the removal of accumulated sediment and debris; repair of eroded or washed out side-slopes, levees, and access roads; and repair of appurtenant flood control structures to protect private and public property and infrastructure, and public safety. Activities may occur as necessary before, during, or following a storm event based on site conditions.
