The University’s acquisition of the Property is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Class 1, Existing Facilities), which applies to the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private facilities involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. No new construction or ground-disturbing activities are proposed as part of the University's acquisition and the Property would be maintained and intended for agricultural, conservation, educational, and related uses and would not authorize development or other physical changes to the property. Therefore, the project would not result in any physical changes to the environment. None of the exceptions to the exemption stated in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
