Document Description
The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing a new asphalt
roadway on Mead Street between the limits of Wells Street and Burns Street in Mead Valley. Mead Street is designated as a local road and currently exists as a dirt road approximately 60 feet wide, with a proposed asphalt road width of 26 feet. The proposed project will include grading and moisture conditioning the roadway
width and paving with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).

The proposed project involves paving the existing dirt section of Mead Street with HMA. The proposed project is consistent with Section 15301(c) that exempts existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities, including road grading for the purpose of public safety, provided the project involves negligible or no expansion of existing use. This project involves no additional travel lanes and constitutes negligible expansion of the existing roadway.
