[PROJECT TITLE CONTINUED]:...[and Passenger and Paratransit Community Vehicles.] The project applicant proposes to use an existing commercial truck and trailer sales and rental business, to establish and operate a transportation yard for the use, storage, maintenance, servicing, housing of trucks, tractor trailers, fleet vehicles, and passenger and paratransit community vehicles at 1300 S. Atlantic Ave., Compton in the Limited Manufacturing (M-L) zone. The proposed project will utilize the existing 4,200-square-foot (SF), single-story metal building and large paved parking lot and will not expand the existing use. The total building footprint (4,772 SF) and total building area (4,200 SF) will remain unchanged. The project site is comprised of two merged lots. Site improvements will include auto parking restriping and landscaping improvements. See the attached CEQA Class 1 Exemption document for further detail.

The project is Categorically Exempt in accordance with Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines (Class 1 - Existing Facilities). The request to approve a conditional use permit to establish a transportation yard for the use, storage, maintenance, servicing, housing of trucks, tractor trailers, fleet vehicles, and passenger and paratransit community vehicles within an existing industrial property that was previously approved and utilized as a commercial truck/trailer sales and rental business, falls within the parameters of a Class 1 exemption which consist of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency's determination.
