Document Description
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (District) proposes to remove the existing roof and install a new roof on the existing Coal Creek Barn in Coal Creek Open Space Preserve. The existing structure has a gabled roof with two dropped shed roofs on both sides of the gable opening. The existing roof consists of corrugated sheet metal with wood plank sheathing and a green waterproofing underlayment. The proposed new roof will be standing seam metal roofing to match the existing structure. No other alterations or modifications to the Coal Creek Barn are proposed. A Historic Resource Evaluation completed in 2021 concluded that the Coal Creek Barn does not appear eligible for listing as a historic resource on the National Register of Historic Places or on the California Register of Historical Places. Furthermore, the site does not qualify for listing as a historic resource as a San Mateo County Landmark or Historic District.

The proposed project entails the removal of the existing roof and the installation of a new roof on the existing structure, with no expansion of use. The new roofing will match the existing.
Furthermore, none of the exceptions to the categorical exemptions identified under CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the proposed project.
