This major maintenance project is categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301, Existing Facilities as it involves interior alterations to existing loading dock gates, sally port gates, cells, showers, restrooms, and kitchen within the existing detention facility with no expansion of the existing use of the facility. This major maintenance project is also categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15302, Replacement and Reconstruction as it involves replacing existing loading dock and sally port gates and observation cell door within an existing detention facility on the same site that will have same purpose and size of the gates to be replaced. Further, no exceptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the project. The project will not impact environmental resources of hazardous or critical concern that are designated, precisely mapped and officially adopted by government agencies; does not contribute to cumulative environmental impact; will not have a significant impact on the environment due to unusual circumstances; does not damage scenic resources within a designated state scenic highway; and is not on the list of Hazardous Waste and Substance Sites pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the Government Code.
