Document Description
A small grove of invasive Ailanthus altissima will be chemically destroyed at the Pasadena City limit on a steep slope between Gabrieleno Trail and the west end of Mariposa Street in Altadena. The grove is not near natural water or sensitive species and has not previously undergone control work. The eradication of this state-recognized noxious weed will benefit the native plant community and the public visiting the area. Without proper control, this grove will continue to expand indefinitely. The area will be monitored continuously for several years.

This project is exempt because it will improve habitat suitability for native plant species and does not directly disturb five acres or more of land. There will be no significant adverse impact on endangered, rare, or threatened species or their habitat. There are no hazardous materials at or around the project site that will be disturbed or removed. Also, the project will not result in significant impacts in connection with past projects, current projects, or probable future projects in the same location.
