Reasons for Exemption
Section 15302 of the State CEQA Guidelines reads as follows:
“Class 2 consists of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced …”
The proposed project consists of the demolition of existing carports and the replacement of them with solar carports. The proposed solar carports are located in the same parking lot as the existing carports. They will serve the same purpose as the existing carports by providing covered parking for vehicles. In addition, the carports size increase is approximately 4.6 percent of the entire project. Therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA pursuant to § 15302 of the State CEQA Guidelines
