Document Description
Tuolumne County, in cooperation with Caltrans, proposes to replace the existing Algerine Road Bridge (Bridge No. 32C0073) crossing Algerine Creek. The replacement bridge will be increased to a standard two-lane width for public safety (no added lane capacity) and will be constructed on a new alignment approximately five feet north (downstream) of the existing horizontal alignment with a higher profile grade to provide adequate hydraulic clearance.

Reasons for Exemption
The project would replace the existing Algerine Road Bridge adjacent to the existing on a higher clearance to provide adequate hydraulic clearance and safety, with no change in capacity. Construction controls and regulatory permits will protect migratory birds protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, prevent the spread of invasive species, protect waters of the US and/or State, and ensure unanticipated cultural resources discovered on-site during construction are protected. The existing bridge is not eligible for the National Register or CA Register as a historic structure. No hazards or scenic resources would be impacted.
