Document Description
The project is limited to one encroachment. The encroachment is for two (2) geotechnical borings within the channel of the Mad River. The encroachment work will include trimming/limbing riparian vegetation; traversing the channel with a self-propelled track-mounted drill rig; using augers and mud rotary drilling to bore holes up to eight (8) inches in diameter to depths ranging 50-60 feet; incorporating drilling fluids; and backfilling the boreholes with native materials to the maximum extent feasible.

The project consists of basic data collection and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource. There would be no significant adverse impact on endangered, threatened, or rare species or their habitat pursuant to §15065. There are no hazardous materials at or around the project site that may be disturbed or removed. The project will not result in impacts that are significant when viewed in connection with the effects of past projects, the effects of other current projects, and the effects of probable future projects.
