Document Description
The proposed project would demolish the existing kitchen and restroom building east of Building C and replace it with a new 9,623-square-foot Multipurpose (MP) Building with a kitchen, along with an approximately 2,000-square-foot lunch canopy either west or south of the new MP Building. Additionally, five existing modular classroom buildings in the southern portion of the campus would be demolished and replaced in kind on existing asphalt with five new modular classroom buildings, each approximately 960 square feet and including a restroom. Site work would include new asphalt paving around the MP Building and a new 31-stall parking lot to the north to address existing parking shortages. The proposed project would also add new landscaping, softscaping, trees, and light poles. Construction is anticipated to take place from approximately June 2027 through July 2028.

Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
15302, Replacement or Reconstruction; 15314, Minor Additions to Schools
Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project qualifies for a Class 2 (Replacement or Reconstruction) exemption under CEQA Section 15302, as it involves the in-kind replacement of the five existing modular classroom buildings entirely within the campus' existing area of disturbance, serving the same function and capacity as the structures being replaced. The proposed project also qualifies for a Class 14 (Minor Additions to Schools) exemption under CEQA Section 15314, because the proposed project consists of the construction of an MP Building with kitchen, lunch canopy, and parking lot which would involve no expansion or change in use and no change in capacity. As a result, the proposed project is exempt from CEQA under both Section 15302 and Section 15314. Additionally, the proposed project has been reviewed under CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2, and does not trigger any exceptions to categorical exemptions, including no impacts to sensitive environments, scenic highways, historical resources, or hazardous waste sites, and no cumulative or significant impacts due to unusual circumstances.
