Document Description
The Enz Quarry Use Permit and Reclamation Plan Amendment Project would amend the existing Conditional Use Permit and Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA) Reclamation Plan for the existing Enz Quarry, located approximately I 1 miles south of Hollister in unincorporated San Benito County. The project includes increasing the maximum annual production rate from I 00,000 tons to 375,000 tons; lowering the quarry floor within a portion of the existing mining area to construct a new materials processing pad; incorporating an existing rock saw operation into the approved use permit; expanding and modifying the reclamation plan boundary to include existing disturbed processing, stockpile, and loadout areas, accommodate limited expansion of those areas, maintain a minimum 50-foot setback from Thompson Creek, and avoid sensitive cultural and tribal resources; authorizing the import of aggregate materials to expand product offerings without increasing truck trips; and removing an obsolete project-specific road maintenance fee condition that has been superseded by the County’s mining road maintenance fee ordinance. Mining operations would continue through the approved operational life of the quarry, with no change to the approved hours of operation or final reclaimed land use.
