Reasons for Exemption
The proposed work constitutes maintenance and minor alteration of an existing levee and associated canal infrastructure intended to improve slope stability, protect against erosion, and preserve the structural integrity and function of the existing facility. The improvements would occur along the existing levee and canal alignment and would not expand existing use or capacity of the facilities. Accordingly, the work is consistent with the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing public facilities contemplated under the CEQA Class I Existing Facilities categorical exemption (CEQA Guidelines Section 15301).
