The project corridor lies along State Route 16 (SR 16) from postmile (PM) 15.10 (0.1 mile west of County Road 68) to PM 20.50 (0.3 mile east of County Road 78A) in Yolo County. SR 16 is a rural two lane conventional highway serving local communities, agricultural operations, and regional travel through the Capay Valley. Existing roadside conditions within the project limits include paved travel lanes with narrow shoulders, driveway connections, culverts and drainage ditches, bridge crossings, roadside signing, pavement striping, and Traffic Management System (TMS) components. Land uses adjacent to the roadway are predominantly agricultural with scattered rural residential and limited commercial activity near community areas, there are no parks or schools within or immediately adjacent to the corridor. All proposed work would occur within Caltrans right of way, and the project does not require new right of way acquisitions.
Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes the Cache Creek Rehabilitation Project on State Route (SR) 16 in Yolo County between Post Mile (PM) 15.1 (0.1 mile west of County Road 68) to PM 20.5 (0.3 mile east of County Road 78A). This project proposes Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (3R) to improve pavement condition and roadway safety. The scope of work includes pavement rehabilitation using full depth reclamation of the entire road surface and base materials to be recycled and reused on site, widen shoulders to 8 feet, replace and widen the existing bridges with upgraded bridge railings to accommodate standard shoulder width, replace nonstandard guardrails and end terminals in compliance with the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH), replace nonstandard roadside signs, and implement complete street features where feasible.
