Document Description
The project consists of the installation of a Flock Safety automated license plate reading (ALPR) camera on behalf of Placer County Sheriff’s Office. The installation consists of band clamp attachment of a camera and a solar panel to an existing traffic signal pole with no proposed ground disturbance. The purpose of the installation is to provide law enforcement with the ability to detect license plates associated with criminal activity and to assist law enforcement with intercepting these vehicles. The beneficiaries of the project are both law enforcement and the public at large as this installation will serve public safety interests and help make Placer County a safer community.

Section 15301(b) specifically refers to the minor alteration of existing public or private structures, including utilities, and the attachment of the proposed camera and solar panel to an existing traffic signal pole with no further alteration to the pole and no ground disturbance qualifies for this exemption.
