Document Description
Copart, Inc. has submitted to the City of Adelanto an application for a Development Plan and Conditional Use Permit (CUP 23-01) to construct a parking lot for the storage of totaled vehicles of all types (cars, trucks, rv’s, etc.) on approximately 65.95 acres of predominately vacant land located at the southwest corner of Holly Road and Raccoon Avenue. The Project site consists of four (4) existing parcels: Accessor’s Parcel Numbers (APNs) 3128-341-01, 02, 04, and 06.The proposed Project will serve as an overflow parking lot for the main Copart Adelanto site located approximately 0.3 miles east of the Project site, north of Holly Road. Totaled vehicles stored onsite will be sold via online auctions and/or held for insurance companies throughout the insurance claim process. Onsite improvements include grading, a gravel parking lot, perimeter fencing to screen from street views, and a detention basin at the northeast corner of the site, south of Holly Road. Additional improvements include the installation of asphalt pavement on Holly Road, Raccoon Avenue and Cactus Road, and curb and gutter, sidewalk, and landscaping improvements along the Project frontage. Access to the site will be provided via one (1) commercial driveway off Cactus Road with a security gate. The overflow vehicle storage facility will be operational Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. The Project will only have staff onsite on an “as needed” basis to assist with incoming deliveries of vehicles. Project operation is estimated to produce approximately 8 to 10 truck trips per day. Daily incoming trucks will include medium duty trucks (tow trucks), and a 938M cat loader will be utilized to move the vehicles around the site.
